TSOANI is led from within the Roma community. Its work combines lived cultural knowledge with rigorous, evidence-based research methods.
President of TSOANI
Carmen Santiago Heredia leads TSOANI as President. She is the author of “Mujer gitana, transmisora de la cultura” (Woman Roma, transmitter of culture), a study registered in the Registro de la Propiedad Intelectual de Jaén, Spain (J-188-03).
Her work documents how Roma women carry language, memory, and tradition across generations, and she guides the centre's research agenda on Roma history, cultural roots, and critical historical discourse.

In her thesis at the University of Jaén, Carmen compares institutional family mediation regulated under Spanish law with the traditional mediation practised by the Roma community — analysing the mediation contract, the process, and the figure of the mediator in both methods, and showing how the respect for elders underpins Roma conflict resolution.

Johanna Paszkowska is an ethnologist and collaborator of TSOANI, contributing to the centre's work on Roma cultural roots, ethnography, and the critical study of historical discourse.
